Rainforest Heroes!

What your students will learn:

1) Investigate where in the world rainforests are, and understand the impact our lifestyle habits can have on the rainforests, and the creatures and people who inhabit them, including the impact of Deforestation and Climate Change.

2) Empower ourselves by discovering how we can take a part in the future of the rainforests, in particular exploring the work of Rainforest Alliance and Rainforest Trust UK.

3) Explore the Forest Layers and the characteristics of each of them, learning about some animals and insects along the way!

Performance techniques they’ll use:

1) Use role play and drama to experience the lives of different communities and animals living and surviving in the rainforests.

2) Use drama, characterisation, music and props to create a documentary-style performance entitled ‘Rainforest Heroes Unite!’ showing the devastating effects our lifestyle habits can have on the climate of the world and rainforests, and demonstrate the different organisations that can help, including how, as Rainforest Heroes, we too can get involved in change, and play our part!

3) Take a walk on the wild side and use movement and music to embody the different animals within each layer of the rainforest! The workshop will end with a ‘Rainforest Relaxation’ exercise, to mindfully listen to the sounds of the rainforest and feel calmer.
